MEET OUR THERAPISTS:
Jennifer Alward MA, LPC, ATRL-BC
Jennifer earned her Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and Art Therapy from Notre Dame de Namur University in California in 2003. She has experience working with children, adolescents, families, parents, and couples in out-patient and in-home therapy settings. She also has experience working with the elderly and people with developmental disabilities in residential settings. Jen works with people of all ages using a variety of therapy modalities, including cognitive, art, sand-tray and play therapies. Each year she expands her cross-cultural experiences on mission trips and hones her clinical skills with ongoing education through workshops and conferences. “I aim to help people find healing and joy in their lives so that they can live as they were created to and reach out beyond themselves.”
Kathy Bates MS, LPC
Kathy graduated from U.W. Whitewater in 2005 with her Masters of Science in Counselor Education. She has also completed the course work for Marriage and Family Therapy and earned certificates in EMDR (Eye Movement DesensitizationReprocessing) 1 & 2, and Narrative Attachment Therapy. These enable her to specialize in the treatment of PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) and other trauma related issues. Kathy has experience working with domestic violence, women’s issues, attachment disorders, trauma, anxiety, depression, personality disorders, and emotional regulation. She works with children, families, adolescents, infants, couples, and adults. “As a trauma based therapist I recognize that behavior is a form of communication that tells of unmet needs and suffering.”
Amy Carlisle, MS, LMFT
I am a culturally competent Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 7 years of counseling experience. I received my Master of Science in Psychology from California Polytechnic State University. My areas of greatest expertise are addiction treatment and grief counseling. However, I have worked with clients experiencing a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, trauma symptoms, low self-esteem, and personality disorders. I also have had experience working with pre and postnatal issues, including parenting challenges. I consider myself to be primarily a humanistic and cognitive behavioral therapist. However, therapy should be a collaborative process adapted to an individual’s needs and what works best for them. My goal is to create a safe and supportive space where I can use my professional tools while we work on psychological and/or relationship issues. I will provide transparency throughout the process, so you are informed and know what to expect. I look forward to meeting you and starting your therapy!
