Located in the home of the Lumberjack World Championships competition and the American Birkebeiner nordic ski race, the Hayward office provides outpatient mental health counseling, psychiatric services, and psychological testing.

Gregory Bambenek MD

Dr. Bambenek is a board certified psychiatrist who has been in practice for 33 years.  He attended the University of Minnesota Medical School and did his psychiatric residency and fellowship at the University of Minnesota Hospitals.  He provides psychiatric evaluations and medication management for children, adolescents, and adults.  Dr. Bambenek is a lifelong outdoorsman who has performed some groundbreaking research in the area of animal pheromones, and he serves as a science consultant to the Discovery Channel and the History Channel.

 



Julia L. Karibalis MS, LPC

Julia has been in the mental health field since graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Stout in mental health counseling in 1997. Julia has a BA in psychology from UW-Stout as well and has been a member of the Psi Chi National Honors Society in Psychology since 1997. Julia specializes in individual, family, and couples therapy, depression, anxiety and eating disorders, grief, loss, and women's issues. Treatment of sexual abuse, anger management, divorce, parenting, Bipolar Disorder, PTSD. Clients: children age 8 and older, adolescents, and adults.  Julia is a native of Hayward, WI and enjoys what the area has to offer.

 

 

Sarah Olson MA, LPC, CCMHC

Sarah has worked in community mental health for over 12 years. She provides individual therapy to adults, specializing in the treatment of anxiety and trauma disorders. She has extensive experience working with crisis management, chronic mental illness, and sexual assault victims, and she has completed advanced training in the areas of emotion regulation, mindfulness meditation, and trauma reprocessing. For clients with acute or chronic PTSD, she offers highly specialized EMDR treatment as a Level II certified clinician. EMDR is endorsed as effective treatment for trauma by both the American Psychiatric Association and the Department of Veterans Affairs/Department of Defense.

 

Connie Powers MA, LPC, NCC

Connie entered the mental health field as a second career after raising her children and working as a music teacher. Her professional interests include working with adults to overcome emotional, relational, and behavioral problems that result from mental disorders, trauma, stress, and loss.  She considers it a privilege to walk alongside clients during difficult times, helping them find ways to enjoy more satisfying and purposeful lives. Connie is married with three grown children. She enjoys the outdoors and spends time hiking, camping, canoeing, kayaking, and cross country skiing. She also enjoys playing and teaching piano.
